Undeath must be in vogue this year as, emerging from its cinema grave in the fiercest fashion possible, the event will kick things off with special bonus preview night featuring the London Premiere of Tina Romero’s zombie drag queen spectacular QUEENS OF THE DEAD. The in-person festival proper will open in with the UK Premiere of cult filmmaker Luc Besson’s grand guignol filled fresh-take on the Stoker classic with DRACULA: A LOVE TALE; starring Christoph Waltz and Caleb Landry Jones, with a score from legend Danny Elfman; this is gothic romance in all it’s sweeping maximalist majesty.  The zombie subgenre gets a chilling and harrowingly human take in the Daisy Ridley starring WE BURY THE DEAD, while vampires have a sapphic surge with the provocative and fabulous SILENCIO from queer auteur Eduardo Casanova.  Closing the in-person festival in the stinkiest way possible will be the London Premiere of Grace Glowicki’s grave robbing grossout DEAD LOVER.

With a thumb firmly on the pulse of brand new genre excellence, the festival will see the International Premiere’s of Markian Tarasiuk’s skin crawling mockumentary HUNTING MATTHEW NICHOLS, the twisted trauma of CROSSWORD from Michael Vlamis and a film that will introduce the world to the concept of Chekhov’s menstrual cup with Katherine Dudas’s hilarious THEATER IS DEAD. And just in case that isn’t wild enough for audiences, they’ll also have Spa marauding sharks in the UK Premiere of HOT SPRING SHARK ATTACK and toe-curling child in threat tension in DON’T LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE from Mexico.

Festival family reunions come in multitudes, led by the World Premiere of Jay Burleson’s canine kidnap nightmare KENNELED, full of wince inducing body horror. Other returning directors include Shane Brady with the blood-soaked revenge wish fulfilment comedy HACKED: A DOUBLE ENTENDRE OF RAGE FUELED KARMA, the European Premiere of Aaron Pagniano & Zack Ogle’s terrifying darkweb doom dive IT NEEDS EYES, Addison Heiman with his tentacle filled sexual Sundance sensation TOUCH ME, and previous audience award winner Cassie Keet bringing the harrowing International Premiere of her post-cult psychodrama ABIGAIL BEFORE BEATRICE.

The separate and unique lineup of the virtual Sohome Horror Fest will also feature familiar faces, as the team behind the inaugural Soho Horror Fest closer Rock Steady Row unleashes pulpy action madness with the European Premiere of THE MISADVENTURES OF VINCE AND HICK; long term alumni Patricio Valladares will haunt your nightmares with the Lovecraftian WHAT THE TIDE DRAGGED IN; and Emily Bennett serves a hallucinatory slice of flesh and faith in her religious reckoning BLOOD SHINE.

The online edition will be bookended with the UK Premieres of hysterical body snatching comedy STRAIGHT OUTTA SPACE, and closing with the equally strange found footage roommate-from-hell movie ALAN AT NIGHT from Jesse Swenson. More side splitting hilarity will come in the form of an alien who loves human faeces in Kazakhstan family romp STINKER, the International Premiere of Jon Salmon’s meta-monster madness THE MOTHER, THE MENACER AND ME; and Spanish stop motion riot BLOODY TALES IN BONFIRE LIGHT. While fans of the more cerebral will delight in twisted dog-training two hander THE INSTINCT from Juan Albarracin, and Kafka meets Twilight Zone sci-fi HEAD LIKE A HOLE.

Or for audiences just wanting to see more explosive bodily fluids than thought possible, tune in for Matt Stuertz’s kinetic and soaking wet HUMAN and the UK Premiere of Becca Kozak’s DIY punk body horror SUGAR ROT, so depraved and vomitous, it would make John Waters proud!

And all of that doesn’t even touch on the 50 plus short films playing across the 2 events, which include new films from fan favourites Benson & Morehead, Jackson Stewart and Andrew Bowser; as well as ones starring Game of Throne’s Lena Headey, Doug Jones, and a very talented tarantula.
